Imagine that you are able to get whatsoever thing you desire; at whatsoever time you want, choosing whatsoever way you want it to appear. Will you consider that a wonderful status? Beloved, if you have not been operating at that level, then you are missing a lot because that is the way you have been designed to function. In Mark 11:23, Jesus declared – “… whosoever shall say to this mountain, Be thou taken away and cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but believe that what he says takes place, whatever he shall say shall come to pass for him”. Jesus was teaching a fundamental principle here that we can define our miracle points as long as there is no doubt in our hearts. For example, you can decide to uproot a mountain by saying it with faith in your heart.
The woman who suffered chronic bleeding for twelve years defined her miracle point when she saw Jesus. She said to herself, if I can touch the hem of his dress, I will get well. There were many people touching Jesus at that time, but not all of them defined “touching him” as their miracle point. Some may have said – I will get well if Jesus places his hand on me OR if only I was able to fast before He came.
Imagine if the woman had said – “if I can just set my eyes on him, I will get well”. Would she have also received her miracle? Absolutely! I will explain further in the second part of this message. But right now I want you to understand that things usually happen to us like we expect them to although most times we are not conscious of our expectation.
Some Christians say – if only I can perform well in the interview, I will get the job. And many jobs elude them until they are able to perform well in an interview. Others say – I will get the job as soon as the interviewer sets his eyes on me. And it happens just as they have said.
Some say – if only I can attend that healing crusade, I will get well. Others say – it is impossible for me to be sick. And both parties get results like they have defined. Some Christians fast for days before they get some results. While some others believe they have a miraculous thought and by just thinking about it, they get the same result. Why is this so?
I Cor. 3:21 says “all things are yours”. ‘God’s divine power has given useverything we need for life’ (II Peter 1:3 – GW). Many of us think “if only God can give, we will get it”. But the scriptures above remind us that “if only we care to know, God has given all we would ever need”. You are the one who usually determine what you get, when you get it and how you get it. Imagine that your earthly father deposited 100 billion bucks into your bank account. It is you who determines where you withdraw from, the time of the withdrawal, the withdrawal amount and the mode of withdrawal. But in relating with God, many are waiting for God to make withdrawals for them from an account that belongs to them and have been credited with unlimited resources.
Christianity will have a unique impact in this world if many more Christians realize that the ball is now in our courts. Let’s stop chasing after God to do what he has already done. Let’s focus on doing what is expected of us. God has done his best for us and it is left for us to experience the best. If you have not consciously defined favorable miracle points, then you may have unconsciously defined unfavorable miracle points. This also applies to your targets for this year. As long as there is no doubt in your heart and you believe in your heart, you can do unlimited exploits that glorifies God and benefits humanity.

I could still remember in my final year when I quarreled with my friend over this issue. He sees his uncle as his role model, while I opted for a world renowned genius. While I berated his choice, he argued that I needed to know my role model’s belief and background before making such a choice the choice.
Years after, now born-again, I have seen reasons with this my friend. We tend to look unto people because of what they have achieved in the society without deep search into who they are.
Some of these people whom we see as great men had denied, blasphemed against the name of God, while others had made repentant confessions at their death beds, unknown to you. Others died; gnashing their teeth in regret of unbelieving life lived.
Consider this statement that culminated into failure:
“Not even God can sink this mighty ship” William Pirrie, President of Harland and Wolff, the company that constructed the Titanic, boasted, days before Titanic embarked on her fateful maiden voyage.
Compare it with this testimony of success:
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:”
Paul, II Timothy 4:7.
Now, I have to come to understand and have acknowledged my role model as Him who:
“hath borne our grief, and carried our sorrows…was wounded for our transgressions… was bruised for our iniquities…bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.” Isaiah 53:4-12.
The King who left all His riches and was made poor for the sake of accomplishing the work of salvation; the only One that bags 100% success is my role model. Who is yours?

Living Beyond and Above the Sex Trap
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the Flesh. The Flesh lusteth against the Spirit and the Spirit against the Flesh: and these are contrary the one the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye are led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Galatians 5:16-18
The end of all our struggles will come when we walk in the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit all the time will not only place us not above our sexual struggles alone but all our struggles.
Christ did not leave us without help, He left us with the Holy Spirit, the comforter to guide, teach and even reveal the person of Jesus to us. John14:18-26 We will become the perfect person we want to be if we decide to walk in the Spirit always. We will have the perfect relationship we want when both parties in a relationship (of any kind) decide to walk in the Spirit all the time.
Easy to say but how do I get to practice it? First you need to build a relationship with the God, that’s when you will be able to tell when the Spirit is speaking. Just the way you are able to identify your mum’s voice because of time spent together over time, you will be able to tell when the Spirit is speaking. The more time we spend with God the better we get.
And how do you build a relationship with God? Firstly, accept the death and resurrection of Jesus as the sacrifice for your sins and the only way to your salvation; Believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord. Desire to have a relationship with God and continuously follow Him Read the Bible and Pray Regularly. Surround yourself with the right set of people who share your passion for God. Identify good teachers of God’s word and listen to them. It is very important to feed our mind fat with God’s Word, so that out of the abundance of the word in your mind you are led. You need to be able to say personally, ‘Your word have I hid in my heart that I may not sin against thee’.
Become a Living Sacrifice! A Living Sacrifice is like a live goat tied to the place of sacrifice and set on fire, it feels the pain and the heat of the fire, yet it cannot leave the spot because it has been tied to the place. And when you bring more fire close to it, it has little or no effect on it because it already is on fire.
I believe this is a good place to start from as we begin the New Year. My prayer this year for you and myself is that we all become Living Sacrifices hot and burning for the Lord Jesus.
Have a Great Year ahead!

If it ever would and not when it does!!!
This insight came to mind while praying and I am overwhelmed to have the opportunity of sharing it with you. It is remarkable to find out that God’s Word addresses us in view of our eternal heritage in Christ Jesus.
You and I were not made for mistakes rather we have the seed of God on our inside which is pure, holy and undefiled. I noticed with such joy how that when sins (act of omission or commission) are mentioned with respect to the believer, God’s word uses the word “if” and not “when”. “When” presupposes that an event is bound to happen. However, the word “if” is used to make us realize the uncertainty of a Christian sinning.
1st John 2:1 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And ifany man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous”
Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, … [Gal 6:1]
Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, … [Jam 5:19]
For if we sin willfully… [Heb 10:26]
If they shall fall away, [Heb 6:6]
You and I are not bound to sin. Sin does not have dominion over us. Rather we are dead to sin. We have that choice to say “Yes” and “No” and thank God for his enablement. Have you pondered over scriptures? The bible says that he has made us a peculiar people zealous for Good works. It is he who works within us both to will and to do of his own good pleasure.
Ephesians describes us that we are God’s masterpiece created in Christ Jesus unto Good works which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.
You were not made for destruction. God is not apprehensive over you for he knows what he has deposited within you. You were not made to fall. In fact, you were not made for that fall. The Christian is to live a victorious life in God for he has been set free from the bondage of sin that he had no power against.
No wonder scripture is replete with verses giving insight into all you now have and the victorious path which you walk. The best you have for a man that falls is encouragement to rise up for he was not made for that mire.
You and I have partaken of the glory of God. Let this manifest always. Do not be deceived. You have been set free to live a life of righteousness. Those thoughts and habits don’t define you. What defines you is the Word. Lay them aside and walk in the reality of who God has made you.

Living Above the Sex Trap
Now that we have accepted the fact that we all share same challenges and our challenges are tied to our past decisions.
What is the way forward? How do we get out of here? How do we live above this challenge?
Sometime ago I tried to personally answer these questions. While meditating on how best to tackle the issue God took me to a level of understanding of what it means for me to have sex outside the confines of marriage. This understanding led me to experience a level of self realization that led to a turn around. I believe we all need a level of self realization that comes from this understanding. Remember Bible says by understanding a house is established.
Long time ago there were several prophecies, some of the prophecies were that David would never lack a son on the throne, there would be a seed of David ……., a virgin shall be with child.
At a point in time in life there was a girl who decided to keep herself chaste and when the time was right chose to marry a young man named Joseph who belonged to the lineage of David. Her choice to remain chaste before and after she met Joseph positioned both of them in God’s plan and purpose for Eternity. It qualified her to be the channel through which the saviour would come. Imagine if it happened that for some reason before she met Joseph she made a mistake by giving in to the charm of some guy she had met when she was young and foolish (as we often describe it). What would have been the effect of her action on her life and even Joseph’s? Would they have ever known the joy of being the saviour’s earthly parent? Would their story be told every Christmas? To think that Mary’s action before ever meeting Joseph could have an effect on Joseph’s future is something that makes me shiver and brings me to think about what effect the life I lived before meeting my husband is having on him now.
Another thing I find interesting is that Mary in her wildest imagination did not think she was keeping herself to be the Mother of Jesus. All she wanted to do was keep herself for the Master.
The understanding that my five minutes of pleasure can change the story of my life and others, helped me a lot. What about you? Do you realize that your decision to keep yourself from any sexual immorality, positions you for God’s purpose for your life and could also rewrite the story of your life and that of others?
There was this widower in the Bible who had not lost his wife for too long. He missed the company and warmth of his wife. Mourning was over; it was time for life to continue. He was on a business trip to a neighbouring town when he met this harlot along the way. His desire for a woman was renewed. He did not have money to pay as he was on his way for business, so he promised to send a kid goat. She was not going to be fooled as she was not there without a purpose, so she asked for his Rod (his work tool), bracelet, Signet (his symbol of authority). This man dropped all these before a stranger in order to satisfy his flesh. He dropped his identity. Like Esau, he exaggerated his press for sex and in his heart said it was worth dropping all for. He enjoyed himself, only to discover later that what he fell into was a trap. A trap set because his daughter in-law who knew his tendencies, just the way the devil knows ours. Months later his acts that were done secretly were exposed.
When I first read this story I asked myself, is sex worth this much? Do we need to lay who we are down for sex? Judah was later identified by the things he dropped. He paid much more later because of the shame that followed his act.
For a full gist of the story you can read Genesis 38.
Christ finished the work of Salvation on the cross, His last word before giving up the ghost was “it is finished!” Therefore we can say God has completed all that concerns our survival in the Christian race.
In Joshua1:8 God told Joshua (and He tells us today), this book shall not depart from thy mouth, you will meditate on it day and night and you will observe to do all that is in it… and you shall make your way prosperous…..
From this passage we can see God telling us that prosperity depends on us in this passage.
In one of the comments, a reader quoted the words of David in Psalm 119 “Thy word have I hidden in my heart that I may not sin against thee”. Truly this is a good scripture to remember always but this words need to become our words too. We need to feed our minds fat with God’s word.
An underlying fact we must always bear in mind even while taking responsibility is that it not by power or might, but by His spirit. There is grace to live above sin first and not just grace to rise up from sin.
God help us all as we decide to remain standing despite all odds. And as the festive season approaches, remember to walk in the Spirit so that you don’t fulfill the desires of the flesh.
God bless you,
Omolola
Bible Reading: Proverbs 24
It is so amazing that God’s affirmations are not dependent on man’s proclamations. The word ‘opportunity’, often times when used by man, is heralded as something that can only show up ones and when not maximized, it fades into oblivion. This belief has made believers to continue in sin, businesses to fold up, students and professionals to settle for average and dreams to become nightmares. This is because of the general mindset that your first attempt should be and bring the best.
With God, it’s a different ball game. Proverbs 24:16 (NIV) says “for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again”. ‘Whhoosshh!’ That man fumbles with the opportunity to be righteous seven bright times, but God was right on time, to present another. Jonah abused his first opportunity to preach to the people ofNineveh, but God gave him another. Peter denied Jesus thrice, but he later became a great apostle. Even brother Samson was given another opportunity to destroy the Philistines. I only know of Judas Iscariot, who after betraying Jesus, did not dare to believe there could be a ‘next opportunity’, and being burdened by guilt, he went and hung himself.
Although we may not have hung ourselves physically, but most times we hang our potentials, creativity, love, service, talents, gifts, trust, help, good works and desire for success. We try to judge the future with the past and feel if we couldn’t make it yesterday despite our rigorous effort, there is no assurance that we’ll make it today/tomorrow. That’s the devil’s lie and it is not meant for your consumption.
Are you currently comfortable with sin because you feel it is impossible for you to display righteousness? Did you narrowly lost a job/contract? Did you ever fail an exam you don’t have the courage to face again? Did you ever take a bold step into loss in your business? Have you been jilted before and you’ve vowed never to love again? Have you misused and abused the opportunity to be a blessing to people in time past? Please don’t go the way of Judas Iscariot, because God is bringing another bigger and better opportunity to you and you can still be a victor where you were once a victim.
Although God doesn’t expect you to handle today’s opportunities with a slack hand under the umbrella that another will show up, of course that will mean settling for foolishness, but one thing is certain: He is bringing another opportunity for you to display righteousness where you’ve sinned before; to succeed where you have failed; to rise where you’ve fallen; to be a victor where you were once a victim. When it comes, give your best possible to maximize it. Your next attempt could be the best you desire.

I work with a financial institution and I have come to discover that for most people savings with a bank is all they know or are content with when it comes to setting money aside. Most people have their seeds sitting in bank accounts earning not more than 3% per annum. So sad!
Letting money lie idle in the bank is according to the Master the least form of investment. In the parable of the talent, Jesus’ explained that the least the unfaithful servant could have done was to put the money in the bank so that on his return he would have collected it with usury (interest). Notice that is the LEAST. Money earns much more when put to work.
So here is a simple rule to follow. With our understanding of seeds we know that they multiply when planted. So money invested produces more money. The soil on which you invest matters. You must invest money where you earn far above the rate at which money looses value. So if prices of things are increasing at 10% per annum then you must invest where you get more than that.
What do you do with the proceeds of your investment? Spend it? No!!! Doing that deprives you of exploring the eight wonder of the world. Somebody put it simply. If you have two servants and they give birth to a third, you don’t give out the third. You put all three to work. The three will give birth to two more then you put all five to work. All five will give birth to three more then you out all eight to work. Let all eight go to work and give birth to 4 more then put all twelve to work. With time you will have a house full of servants. Money is a servant. It grows faster when compounded. By compounding we mean you re-invest the proceeds from the investment. Each time you do this you compound your investment and reduce the time it takes to reach your financial target.
If you invest 20,000 one time and don’t add to it and you reinvest (compound) the proceeds for lets say 47years at 10% above inflation then you will have nearly 2million. Now notice that is a one time investment. On the other hand if you save 20,000 in a bank and keep adding the same 20,000 yearly at the funny 3% returns it gives you will have less than a million after 47years. Now if you invest 20,000 and keep adding 20000 yearly for the same period at the same rate you will have over 17million.
That is the power of compound interest and Einstein called it THE EIGHT WONDER OF THE WORLD. Earn interest on your interest. You have no reason not to leave a fortune for that child. A one time investment for him will make him a millionaire before he even begins work.
Make an investment decision today. Compound your investment and enjoy the eight wonder of the world. –emmanuel aladenusi |
Christians and the Sex Trap
….A man is tempted when he is drawn away by his own lust and enticed. James 1:14 How did we get here? Every time a person falls without taking a second look to find out why he/she falls, there is a risk of having the same fall happen again. Why? Because he/she never knew why he fell and does not know what to look out for to avoid a second fall. This is why I want us to answer this question first, How did we get here? How did we get into a situation where our flesh seeks the most to do those things that our spirit hates? It’s time we forgot for a second the story about Adam and Eve, and how man fell and sin was passed to all men. If we have been accepted Jesus as our saviour then we can claim to be new creature, for whom old things have passed away and all things have become new. If so how come we that have been born of incorruptible seed have corruptible tendencies? Let’s do some reasoning together and draw the picture of an average believer.
Lets call this believer Billy; Billy loved to read as a child and read a lot of books while growing up, from various authors ranging from Enid Blyton’s classics, Pacesetters, Hardley Chase, Harlequin, Mills and Booms, Jackie Collins, Harold Robins, Sydney Sheldon, Dennis Robins, Barbra Taylor and the likes. When it came to music, Billy listened to and sang every genre of music uncensored, from various artists like Boys II Men, R Kelly, Tupac, Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, Janet Jackson, Maria Carey, Toni Braxton, Madonna, Aron Hall, Withney Houston, Bob Marley, etc Billy watched enough movies without proper guidance; Billy saw it all on TV, kissing, smooching, sex and all. At school Billy talked and fantasized about sex with friends who were either practicing with their housemaids or neighbours, or dreaming about it. The neighbourhood also exposed Billy to adults who abused Billy.
All these formed Billy’s attitude toward sex. Then came Billy’s first relationship which lasted for years. Soon Billy began experimenting, and soon it became a way of having fun for Billy.
Then something happened and Billy accepted Christ. Billy became a new creature but did not suffer a memory loss. A major source of problem with staying in faith for Billy was the knowledge acquired years before knowing Christ. Billy’s mind had been well cultivated in those years by the media, Billy’s environment and experiences.
This is a brief summary of Billy’s life. Any sincere person reading this piece will agree with me that Billy paints the picture an average Christian’s life. A major issue everyone of us had (or still have) after giving our lives to Christ was the life we lived before knowing him. For me I lived in the nightmare of the life I lived before knowing Christ. Not that my life before knowing Christ was as colourful as Billy’s but my life before knowing Christ disturbed my prayer life, worship and thought process. For me I had to stop reading any literature that was not Bible based, (I even avoided Christian Romance) and listening to the radio so as to avoid anything not godly going inside of me.
Bible says don’t conform to the world but be transformed by the renewing your mind. My beloved in the Lord you will agree with me that the situation we have today is this;
And then expect to live a holy life because we are new creatures.
We did not suffer a memory loss, the pleasure of sex outside and inside Christ is the same, the only difference is that now you are in Christ you have a conscience that gives you a guilty feeling after. Jesus Christ said, the things that defile a man are not the things that go into a man but the things that come out of a man. Why? Because you can decide to make something positive or negative of what goes into you. We have taken in all the multi media jargons and it has produced fruits of ungodliness, so much that now we are in Christ we are still who we were before knowing Christ, the only difference is that we feel guilty after and ask for forgiveness.
Imagine if Billy became born again after he was 20, almost ripe for marriage, so some years after conversion Billy takes on the first relationship without this renewal of mind the Bible requires of us, what do you think will happen? You can be sure that Billy might not know the first thing two children of God in a relationship should be doing. And some Christians in church will meet Billy (burning and active for the Lord because of the fresh fire) and would be taken to her. From there a relationship begins.
So based on all this assumption a relationship begins, by the time either of them know what is happening, the quality of their foundation is revealed.
After giving our lives to Christ we need a complete overhauling. Someone reading this might say yes, but this happens over time, I do agree with that, nevertheless I believe a level of renewal of mind must take place. Roman12:1-3 says I beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto the God, which is your reasonable service. And be not be conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
The things we have consumed in form of books, videos, music, words before knowing Christ have formed our philosophies and made us who we were before Christ. So we did not get here just because man fell in the garden, we got here by virtue of the decisions we made before knowing Christ. We need to take some responsibility. And now we need to begin to prepare again the soil of our heart for God. Go back to the word of God for direction. Remember How shall a young person live a clean life? By carefully reading the map of your word. Ps119:9 (MSG)
For some others this is not the story, it is that they have lived so much of a holy life that they don’t know what it feels like, what they carry is their curiosity, without any knowledge they fall victims at a time when they let down their guard. Remember He that breaks the edge, the serpent bites.
Bible says let no man thinks he stands lest he falls, this is one rule everyone must appreciate. No one has immunity from falling a victim, so even now I don’t see myself as attained. I do not speak because I am an authority, I speak because I am one who shares in this struggle. Some married person reading this might regard all this as information for the single but I say no it is not, that is why I referred to the scripture, Let no man think He stands. A married man/woman is more exposed than the single, times come when for some reasons spouses cannot come together sexually because either of the two is indisposed for one reason or the other. Then other party needs to go back to all the lessons he/she learnt as a single and then it usually becomes a little more difficult. No matter you status, No one is beyond being tempted sexually.
How then shall we escape?
Please your Comments will be well appreciated and stories of how you’ve been able to stay above will be well appreciated. You might be saving a soul.
See you soon. Omolola |
Bible Reading: Philippians 3
My father constantly told me that ‘a good soldier prepares for war in the time of peace’. In other words, his success at war time is dependent much on the training he has acquired before the war. But today, I see many Christians trying to prepare for the battle of life only when they find themselves in battle. Very little time is given to spiritual growth and skills development. We are so much engulfed in the “get it quick” syndrome.
I wish all Christians focus on growth – because it is naturally accompanied with a fruitful ministry, good success and a good life. Sometimes it baffles me that when some chronic sinners just give their lives to Christ, they immediately rush to Bible school and the next year they are already made Pastors. They get the position of a pastor but lack the disposition of a pastor. While it is good that we all engage in the ministry of reconciling men to God, it is not a substitute for our Christian growth. Some Christians are praying everyday to reach the zenith of their career, but they are spending no time to develop themselves. Some others do not even pray or read their bible until when they are in a difficult situation – You see them quoting Psalms.
So many times we go to God in prayer for things that we have not developed ourselves to handle. It’s like a 5 year old boy crying to his father to buy him a Hummer jeep. Even if the father buys it for him, he won’t let him drive it until he has developed to the age where he can handle it. Jesus Christ spent 30 years preparing to enter into the core of his purpose on earth. When I understood this principle, I began to focus more on growth because there are a lot of God’s blessings which are potentially ours, but do not become ours experientially until we have grown up.
If you are a good Christian, I probably have your attention. But if you are not, you may see Christianity as pressing a button to receive anything at anytime from God. Take a lesson from the trees. They don’t spend time worrying about having a great height. They focus on sipping water and nutrients from the soil, and in no time, they grow tall for all to see. Many Christians are struggling to get to great heights, but little do they know that great heights will naturally accompany a good growth.
I love the words of Tanzanian Marathon runner – Juma Ikangaa (1957): “The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare”. Beloved, in your career, ministry and life endeavors, I want you to see this time as a growing time. Develop your skills. Stretch your mind. Now is the time to study. Now is the time to pray. It is cheaper to do it now. It is easier to do it now. You can make your life very productive if you make today productive. Give today your best shot. Focus on growth. – tope aladenusi |
